During the engaging main quest known as The High Keep in Hogwarts Legacy, players are tasked with infiltration and puzzle-solving around Falbarton Castle. One of the primary obstacles encountered during this mission is finding a way to open the massive main gate to allow Natsai Onai inside. Understanding the correct sequence of spells and environmental interactions is crucial for progressing smoothly through this key story moment.
Infiltrating Falbarton Castle and Reaching the Gatehouse
Before you can interact with the gate mechanism, you must navigate around the eastern battlements of Falbarton Castle. Climbing up the designated ledges allows you to gain access to the higher ramparts overlooking the courtyard. From this vantage point, breaking through a wooden barricade reveals the inner pathway leading directly into the gatehouse chamber.
Operating the Gate Mechanism with Depulso and Accio
Inside the gatehouse, players will spot a large spinning mechanism designed to lift the portcullis. Casting Depulso multiple times in rapid succession forces the mechanism to rotate, raising the heavy gate to its highest position. Once elevated, you must quickly cast Accio on the wall mechanism handle to lock the gate securely in place before it falls back down.
Troubleshooting Common Puzzle and Timing Errors
Timing plays a vital role when securing the main gate lever because delay causes the portcullis to slide back to the ground. Casting Depulso only once will not provide enough momentum to reveal the locking mechanism behind the gate. If the lock mechanism fails to trigger, quickly recast Depulso to fully elevate the gate before pulling the wall hook with Accio.
Advancing the Story and Unlocking Beast Mounts
Successfully holding the gate open triggers a cutscene where Natty joins you to explore deeper into the keep. Completing this objective moves the quest forward toward saving Highwing the Hippogriff from poachers. Finishing the entire sequence grants valuable player experience and unlocks flying beast mounts across the open world.
